That case is from test firing your new pistol at the factory. It is inculded to 'prove' that your pistol was indeed testfired.

You can throw it away.

If you live in Maryland or NY IIRC, those cases are supposed to be sent to the state police to be entered into a database just in case you do something bad with your pistol.

Provided:
1) You haven't changed the barrel
2) Picked up your brass after shooting someone.

And I think both NY & Maryland are considering junking these brass databases.

You gotta worry if the case is NOT there, cause that means someone else has it and most likely is keeping it waiting for it to match one from a crime scene.

You have a lot more faith in the NY/Maryland CBI than I do. I would highly doubt they could make a cartridge match case stick.
