Cliff note version: The new native president of Bolivia followed through with his election promise to nationalise the oil and gas industry. He used troops to do it. The nationalisation won't expropriate companies of their assets, however, they have 6 months to sign on to a deal that gives the government much greater control and revenue from the production of oil and gas. Venezuala has offered technical assistance if the multi-national companies run. |
The same Venezuala that now has to import oil for domestic use so they can make their contract deliveries because their production has fallen since the government took over? |
