I would respond to her criticism that those seeking "tactical" training are calling violent situations into being with the fact that training like that also shows you how the same tactics and weapons can be used against you. I will also point out both of my defensive gun uses (which had no shots fired, the robber beat feet every time) occurred before I had real training (beyond the old TX ccw course), I lived in a dangerous and violent city and still do here in CO.
Having run some small unit scenarios it taught me the foolishness of responding to some things that occur frequently in my city: such as the theft from vehicle rings and the catalytic converter thieves...they have armed overwatch posted (often with long guns) watching your egress points (door, side yards, etc) should someone try to stop their buddy's crime. I do know some people who take a course and come out thinking they are some kind of commando but they are one of twenty, most of us with a healthy sense of self preservation remember just how easily bullets come the other direction and conduct ourselves accordingly. Edit: Personal attacks on the author's appearance are childish and do nothing to advance the cause of the lawfully armed citizen. Y'all are better than that... |

Misleading title.
She wasn't “trained to kill”. She was trained “how to kill”. Huge difference... (but she knows that) Also she is 100% disingenuous... at Gunsite in most of the force on force scenarios they teach you to either barricade in place or run away if you can. The opposite of “trained to kill...(but again she knows that). But like the earlier poster said...she had the article written before she even took the class. |
