I took a video with my cell phone and its in .3gb format (whatever that is)
For just a quick, short little video clip the file is over 30Mb

I'd like to somehow compress it so that I can post it on youtube and not have it take a million years to upload (on my side) or download (on the other side)

Is there some decent freeware out there that I can accomplish this with?

Youtube will convert it anyway, no matter what your source is.

Download MPEG Streamclip, it will let you convert to any video codec you have installed on your computer. There are a lot of free codecs floating around out there, you probably already have something that would work.

Download the trial of "power director". It took me several hours of installign and uninstalling editing programs to find one that actually works, and power director works amazingly well.
