I'm asking this here rather than the Urban Commando forum because its more general AV and there's more traffic.

In the fishing lodge I manage in Costa Rica we have Sky satellite TV.

Currently, I have 32" TV in the bar.  It's too small.  TVs are stupid expensive in Costa Rica (import duties) and TV's don't last due to the climate where we are (90 degrees and 90% humidity all year).  Walmart 32" TVs in San Jose cost almost $400, so buying a 50" there every year is stupid.

So I want to replace it with a projector (small enough to fit in my luggage and cheaper than a TV) and a 50" screen.

The Sky satellite box uses composite RCA jacks to connect to the TV (video and audio).  The projector I'm looking at (here) has composite input, but I think know I need speakers.

So, my question is, can I use a simple amplifier like this (I use one with our internet radio to power speakers) -  running the Sky satellite box's audio RCA jacks to it and running the video RCA jack to the projector?

That projector should have a 3.5mm sound/aux out jack (looks like the single blue aux out in the left corner).  Where you run that line depends on what you want to use.  You can patch that cable to a speaker that takes a 3.5mm jack or 1/4" jack (with adapter).  I've set something like that up once, but the speakers are self powered (internal amp).

You can also run the RCA (red/white) from the Sky cable box to where you are going to run your sound.  I've never used one of those small devices to run sound.  Usually I'm running them into a sound board at work but people at home could patch the Aux Out or RCA to a stereo receiver and then run cable to speakers.
