I've lived in WV for 38 years now and aside from hunting, fishing and a little camping I haven't taken full advantage of what our great state offers. Tomorrow I am going to do the Via Feratta at Nelson Rocks. Then on Sunday I will be doing a canopy tour on their zip lines. Maybe next year I'll try some whitewater rafting.

Has anybody done a via ferrata? This will be my first experience with any kind of climbing. Although you are tied in and they have rungs to climb on you are still a few hundred feet up in the open. I think the bridge crossing might make my knees shake a bit.

Their helmets have mounts for GoPro's so I plan to make a little video of the experience.

Haley Strategic does a course in Colorado that utilizes a via ferreta system.  It looks awesome and I've always wanted to try it.

Heading that way now. Hoping the rain will hold off. I'll post some video tomorrow.

I did the Via Feratta several years ago and had a great time.  Well, almost a great time...it was really, really windy.

I'd love to do it again, but probably won't since the price has basically doubled from what I paid.

I survived! It was the coolest thing I've done. It was raining at the beginning and we took a pretty good risk even going as the guides were willing to give us a refund at any point. By the time we made it around to the bridge crossing the rain was gone. I've got some great footage with the GoPro but unfortunately the SD card was full by the time we got to the headwall. I did get some video from the top with my iPhone though. I hope to have a highlight video up soon.

Here is a video from the top. You can see the bridge we crossed about 200' below.
