Just got back from my Aussie's vet check up... he's 7-8 years old. He's up to date on his shots. For this dog, my doctor recommends shots every 3 years. In south Texas we have mosquitoes nearly year round, so I treat for heartworm year round. They only give a 6 month supply at a time, so, I brought him in for a check up and heartworm refill. The vet said he's good to go. On his record the vet marked all the boxes as normal. In the weight section is marked normal range BCS 5/9. Also marked is Minor Tartar, and recommends dental cleaning within a year. Alright, get to the question already ... My question is what is the BCS 5/9 mean?  |

Don't get sucked in with that dental shit, it's just a revenue generator.
Get your dog some bully sticks and soup bones and it'll clean it's own teeth. I am against knocking a dog out to clean it's teeth. Totally not necessary if you provide him things to do it himself. |

They already gave up the carrot to get us back in annually with the 3 year rabies shots/law, but still keep us coming back every 6 months for a checkup to get the heartworm refills. |
