Anyone grew up in the '80s probably had a poster of Jerry Wiegert's car in their room.  Back then it was even more exotic than Lamborghini Countach or anything Ferrari made.  That thread about Fisker car made me think of it, so I looked it up.

Vector Motors

Everything in it is so over the top I have to wonder if this is a laughable scam or just a pathetic attempt at former glory, such that it was.

At least it wasn't a Dale.

See the story here.  It ought to be an Arfcom hit, 'cuz it's got trannys.

I remember seeing one as a kid at the MGM in Reno. It wasn't taller than the fire hydrant near it.

It was always a scam. They only made 2 or 3 running cars. They kept repainting them different colors to make it seem that they had more.

GT2 had vectors on it. A V8 and a V12 if I remember correctly. They were fast but drove like shite.

I remember first seeing a Vector Twin Turbo as it was called, at the SF Car show early 80's. They compared it to the Lamborghini 5000s, with claims of besting the Lambo in most areas.

What's interesting is in the brochure(at the car show) they claimed the founder was an ex F-14 pilot.

But in the above link I saw no mention of that?

Just for fun I googled his cell phone number.  Apparently he's still alive and kicking, and selling whatever's left of his company.  You know, he probably made more money selling posters of his cars than actual cars.

The place is about an hour from me.  Maybe I'll swing by one day.

The Vector......can't forget that part of my childhood (the fastest car made!)

Here is an actual picture of the WX8 from 2006 (used as a prop when Jerry was seeking funds with Baron capital)

Notice the Supra headlights and Corvette wheels.

I remember them. A good friend always threw out the name Vector when someone asked what kind of car he wanted when he turned 16. They always looked at him funny.

That looks like a mid-'90s Camaro prototype.

I got to sit in a W8 in Miami as a kid. It wasn't that nice inside. But I loved the looks.
