| Has anyone taken the VCAP-DCD exam? I just booked it for April 1st. From the blog posts I've read most people fail it the first time so that's going to suck at $400 a pop. |

What did you do to prep? My vcp expires this year so I need to renew or step up to the next level. I've heard the VCAP5-DCD is being retired in June. It took me about 4 months of prep to pass and I failed it the first time which it seems most people do. As far as prep goes, I read Scott Lowe's vSphere Design Second Edition and watched his video series on Pluralsight to begin with. Then I read a LOT of blog posts, VMware's official blog, white papers, and product documentation. I mean a LOT of product documentation. VCP6 so I can then work on the VCAP6-DCA. I haven't decided on if I'll pursue the VCDX yet but I'm considering it. My recommendation is to upgrade your VCP to version 6 then work on the others just due to the time lines of the retirement of the exams. One good thing about the VCAP certs is they don't expire. At least not yet, I guess anything is subject to change. |

Congrats OP I got to go to VCP-5 training we were going to get VMware and I was all excited about it. 3 years later we finally go it and it was V6 not 5. So much of what I learned in class was gone. Gotta love government procurement.. Thanks! We are wanting to deploy 6 this year but I don't know if we'll get to it with all the other projects we have. |
