Is there a perceptible performance benefit to doing this?  If so, which flash drives are recommended - I assume based on another thread that there are faster drives than others.

readyboost ?


i use a 2gb kingston "certified" readboost drive.   it works.   i can't give you an exact on performace,  but it does help

Very bad idea for two reasons.

1) Flash drives are much slower than hard drives.

2) Flash memory has a limited number of read/write cycles before cells start to fail.  You'll fry the flash drive quickly using it that way.
