Any users of MS OneNote 2010 here? Do you like it? What does it provide that you find most useful? Likes/dislikes? |

Use it often at work and at home to track job progress and all the random little tidbits of information. Great using it for multiple people to track progress and keep track of small items that aren't necessarily in a deliverable. With my new phone I have my home ones synced through the MS skydrive, so my shopping and to-do lists are on there so I have access from any of my computers and phone.

I couldn't work without it now. My work is always different so nothing really falls into any kind order but putting it all inside each sections tabs make it super easy to find and keep in order.
I don't share my files with others though, they would just mess it all up. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I ask because several folks at work want to use this. They travel, so I can see why they would like it. But we document a lot of stuff, and I'm concerned that as individuals utilize the free form aspect of the program, it will lead to confusion when documents/files/notebooks are shared. |

I use onenote constantly. I work at msft, but not in any office groups (I work in on visual studio, actually)
at work, keep track of everything I do, basically. I have a page for each year, and a subpage for each month. every day I add a new section at the top of that month's page, and copy any undone things from yesterday up to the day's section. I use checkmarks for stuff todo, I star important things, highlight stuff, paste screenshots, clippings, etc. I use Win+S to do screenshots of subparts of the screen all the time. (on win8.1, it is win+shift+s, which has been amazingly hard to get used to) at the end of the month, I then go back and summarize what I worked on at a very high level, and paste it into the year's page. when it comes to midyear reviews or annual reviews, I have a high level synopsis of what I've done. if anyone asks me about anything, I can probably find it in the onenote page. and since we have skydrive pro at work, it's all on skydrive. its on every computer/laptop I need, I can get to it on the web, I can get to it on my phone, etc. I've used onenote every day at work since October of 2009. on my surface rt, I can use the stylus end of my TiBolt pen to write, and the handwriting transcription is surprisingly good. I only use it in meetings when I don't want to type, though. on my phone, I use onenote (skydrive) to do mini shopping lists and todo lists and stuff, and since it is on skydrive, it is also everywhere, so those notes are on every device I use. |

I also live in Outlook and Visio but have never even looked at OneNote. Perhaps it's time I see what I can make it do for me.

onenote is the key that holds my office life together. I probably use it as much as Excel or Word; I live in Visio and Outlook, though. |
