Not Honda, that much I know.

If it's a Honda yes. I got my EU4000 for 200.00 bucks. It had been sitting for several years and it's condition was unknown. I flushed the tank, put in fresh fuel and it started in the 2nd pull. Best 200.00 bucks I ever spent.

Look it over, start it, if it don't start by the 3rd pull, make decision, and IF it takes more than 4 to start offer 1/3 of asking price

Well, Generac is a fairly well known name and B&S engines are common and not too hard to work on.  It looks like an older model, so I'd also advise you to follow a previous poster's advice to see if it starts easily, both cold and hot, and if it handles a moderate load, like 2 electric heaters well. If so, I'd be interested at $250, $200 would make it an easy purchase if I didn't have one already.

Generac also uses their own "OHVI" engines in some models.

However, since Generac was bought by B&S a few years ago, parts for a Generac engine should also be readily available.

Decent Chinese-made generators (Champion Power Equipment, Powermate, etc.) can be had for $300 brand-new just about any time - Or sometimes under $250 on sale. So, $250 is definitely the upper range of what I'd pay for this one.

Wouldn't start on 1st, 2nd, or even 10th pull. It was warm when I got there so he had been running it before.

Probably has some known issues he was hoping to avoid by firing it up earlier.

I told him $50 as it sat, he literally laughed and laughed(little creeped at this point), asked me if I thought he was a fool. I said "no sir, but I'm getting the feeling you hoped I was".

Oh well, thanks for the replies, more will pop up.

Eh, for $100 not running you could probably clean the carb and get it going.

Suggestion: Save up another 80 bucks, and order one of these or these instead.
