How do we know that GoatBoy isn't really BATFBoy?

You don't.  But then again, you don't have to. A simple thanks for trying to get things fixed might be appropriate.

If these forums were run by the ATF, it would be the best use of tax money I've seen in a long time. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the heads up Goatboy...Perhaps it is time to migrate the site in it's whole entity. With new server software etc etc....like you said.

Thanks for the update.  I was beginning to feel that the old forum was going to be dead forever.  "There is a method to the madness."

Thanks for the update!! Anyone consider having a new membership, call it something for people willing to contribute towards the cost of running the board? I'd be one willing to contribute. Just a thought.

I like this board better, and there are many reasons for that. Biggest one is that you guys have control over it because you wrote the software (some nice work BTW).

Perhaps having the old board up as an "archive only" site would be a good way of keeping the info from it alive, yet not having to worry about it dying.

Many thanks to you Goatboy and Edward for providing your time, energy, money, etc. to help us all out. [:)]

C'MON GOATBOY! NOW YOU KNOW YOU ARE HERE TO PREACH THE GOSPEL! TO HEAR ED DISPARAGE YOU SHAKES MY CONFIDENCE. I PROBABLY DRAW AS MAY FOLKS TO THIS SITE AS ANYBODY ELSE, AND I'M STILL RELEGATED TO 'MEMBER' STATUS. THAT'SA A SMALL MATTER FOR ME, A BIG MAN.

I think we all appreciate the efforts GoatBoy has made to bring this site a little closer to a working site until the UBB site is back up.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Ed's ultimate goal to build a commercially viable and profit making enterprise from this and several other sites?

If I'm not mistaken I recall a post by Ed on the UBB board asking members if they were willing to pay for memberships to support enhancements and upgrades to ar15.com.  I believe many members including myself would be willing to help finance an improved site if it's ever implemented.

The value of this site is not in the hardware or software. It is in "We" the user community that brings web traffic and ultimately paying advertisers to make this a financially successful self sustaining site.

It's unfortunate that you missed the humor in my post you deleted.

The increased communications is appreciated!

goatboy--thanks for the update.  you know. it seems to me thant all the flaming of this board has been unjustified.  yeah, perhaps it has been an inconvenience for us longtime ar15.com users and sometimes change is uncomfortable.  but, for me, it's not the board itself but the users who really make it happen.  it's taken a few weeks for all the regulars and mods to migrate over here--antiussa, donr, (btw where's ammoman and swfa?), etc.  anyhow, it's really starting to feel like the same old comfortable place we've known for so long.  so come on guys, get in touch w/ all the ones who are mia and bring them onboard.  consider it a change and upgrade for the better.
