Just saw the trailer for it on The Road dvd. Seems totally believable to me: Evil white guy who is totally not muslim and probably Christian plants nukes around the country and Samuel L Jackson does an episode of Mission: Impossible to get the locations.... You are completely wrong on every single point you just made. Next time watch the film before you "review" it. |

I saw it a couple of weeks ago, it was outstanding. What was your take on the "torture is illegal" slant? When we first started it I thought it was gonna be a total Hollyweird hackjob, but it turned out showing both sides pretty well. Interesting. Jackson was a bad mofo. |

My take was that the 'good' characters all realized that their own morals only worked to a point, and after that point had been reached it someone would have to get their hands dirty, They chose to save lives over being able to live with themselves afterwards. Jackson's character was fully aware of this and knew that in the end the US government would always need him, no matter how much they despised him. I also believe that oftentimes the argument "we don't want to sink down to their level" is hollow and is only proposed by people who have no experience in close contact with the enemy. |

Just watched it last night. Great movie exploring the interplay between morality and the war on terror. How far do we go in stopping a terrorist act? How far should we go?
The movie doesn't take sides, but it does one of the best jobs I've ever seen of showing that there are costs in fighting terrorism...no matter which road you want to take. It just comes down to what you are willing to accept. Highly, highly recommended. |

Just finished watching it. I admit that I was wrong based on what I saw in the trailer. It was a pretty good movie. The lives of several million people balanced against torturing two kids.... It would be the absolutely hardest thing to do. but if it worked, then it wouldhave to be done.... |
