I just moved and accidentally threw away a bunch of my tv remotes.  So I'm in need of a universal remote, before I walk into Walmart and buy the best $5 remote they offer any one have any neat remotes that they like? I'm not overly concered with price. I'd pay up to $100 if it's something really different (touch screen) or something cool.

Most tv brands have apps to control your tv. Roku and apple tv have apps as well. I believe directTV does too, can't remember for sure though.

Most newer phones now have IR built in so you can set them up to control most of you a/v equipment. That being said Logitech is usually the go to standard for decent a/v remotes.

Logitech Harmony. A bit of a pain to set up, and can be super annoying if you have something that requires their assistance configuring, but when it works it's an amazing remote.

Avoid Logitech, buy as much URC as you can afford. Sounds like your needs are easily met with something like so:

There's always one fucking feature that doesn't work, and it's something important like "input" or an arrow key.

If you doubletap mute on my X1 universal remote, it wants to do a factory default reset on my LG TV

Universal is a word that means it does not fit anything.

Thanks for all the input guys. I didn't a little snooping on he Logitech and they seem like a PITA to setup especially for those with technical struggles.  I think I'm gonna settle for the one bohr_adam suggested.
