We are looking at buying a house and it has a 10 x 16 deck that I want ceiled with one of the various underdeck systems.  I have looked at several brands and like the hard vinyl style that gives a nice smooth finish.

American Dry Deck is one of them.

Who has experience with this and has anyone self-installed?  DrySnap is a do-it yourself version.

I've installed a membrane on the top of my deck and laid down cribbing and decking on top of that. It worked well. If you plan to use the under-the-deck system, which is nice because the white helps brighten a pretty dark area, make sure that it slopes away from the house AND that it slopes away from the deck joists. The joists will rot pretty quickly, even if you use pressure-treated lumber, if you don't keep the water moving AND moving away from the wood and house.
