Vimy Ridge was a major and extremely bloody battle during WWI.
Lots of Artillary shells (High Explosive and Gas Shells) were shot. Some of them went off, and others just buried themselves in the mud. Where today, they still lie there..waiting to go off.

Above is a picture of part of Vimy Ridge, as you can see, the small hills and valleys some of which contain live ordinance...would make for an extremely challenging golf course.

i would guess the area would be considered historical? and unable to be bought  and made into a golf course???

That would be such a bad ass golf course.

It would be exceptionally challenging with all kinds of breaks.
Also a little dicey...a Golfer would always wonder if one of those old shells would go off or leak some mustard or chlorine gas.
