Anybody heard an actual arrival date of the outback diesel ? Price? and will it use that stupid Urea stuff or use the honda style catalytic converter and get around the requirement?

I am looking forward to a new car and that just might be it...

When?

When the federal government and the EPA decides to have an intelligent environental/energy policy

I read they don't plan on bringing the diesel to the US market it's been out for a few years in other countries but due to the regs here it was to much of pita to get them in.

IIRC, Mercedes has an E Class diesel, along with others.  My understanding of MB diesels of this age are that they need to a tank of urea to scrub the exhaust.

Maybe the other makes don't want to jump through the EPA hoops?

Mercedes, and by extension, Jeep, had several models of diesels, but new emission regs caused them to rethink the market.

VW also had to take a few year break on them in the US while the set them up for the gheyness. I love our 02 TDI and always kick myself for thinking of selling it when someone asks if it's for sale.
