I've got a question for the USAA members here. When the insurance distribution comes around, are you expecting it? Does anything hinge on that?

I ask because I never remember when it is coming and we have no way to know how much it is going to be so I never count on it. With that said, I was thinking that it would be cool when they send out the email telling you what account they are going to deposit into if they would give an option to also select from a list of military focused charities.

Imagine how much money could be raised for The Fisher House or Horses For Heroes.

What do you think?

I think I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth and start setting conditions.

I am never expecting it.  Your idea is not bad.

I am not setting conditions. I am only saying that The Fisher House could better use the money that I'm not expecting than I can. I can give the money myself, but I was thinking that it would be a cool thing for USAA to handle for us.

I haven't gotten a check in years. They just deduct from my insurance bill. I thought this was standard, but I just checked the site and it's not. Odd.

I like your idea about a military charity. USAA just deduct the payment from my monthly bill so I never get a check.

When you get it, just donate.  VOILA.

I get so little I rarely even remember it's coming. Years ago I got a nice check or two and it was in time for Christmas, which was excellent.

It always comes in December (or at least mine does), and you do have the option of just having it applied to your insurance payment or receiving a check (there may be other options as well).  I don't ever count on it, and it generally gets used for either charitable work, Christmas shopping, or something fun.

Back when they sent a check, it was always the 2 week in Dec.  Now it is just shown as a credit on the Dec billing

What is this we are speaking of?

I get mine direct deposited to a bank account.  It always comes early December and you can sign up for email notification to let you know a few days before that it is coming.

IIRC I have my direct deposited in my savings account.
