| Now which would make the best trunk gun, this assumes you carry it to and from the vehicle every day in an inconspicuous case. Would you choose the FAL, it's of course .308 and would definitely have better punch on barriers, an AK ...cheap, reliable and lots of ammo on tap but has social stigma if you pull it you're likely identified as a badguy. An AR, the rifle we all know and love but has limited barrier penetration ( vehicles and such ) but lots of ammo and very controllable/portable. Maybe a shotty? |

Ah ha!!! All of your votes are belonging to me!!!! Well, for now anyway. I prefer the CAR-15 for a trunk gun. A CAR, case, and five mags ( with a 20 rounder in the gun ) fits perfectly in the add a trunk on my Jeep. I know the weapon, it's compact, yet easily shootable and it's reliable. My personal CAR 15 is a build up gun that consists of an SGW lower, and RRA 6 pos stock, and a Bushie light weight A2 upper. Can't have my Colt's getting into an accident now, can I ????? |
I will feel bad for you, that's pretty sweet |

I would lean towards my M1A Scout. Fairly small package, lots of firepower in those 20 round mags! But, if the wife lets me buy the AK I want (NEED But since I have don't even have a trunk (F-350 Crew Cab) I guess it wouldn't really be a "trunk gun". Cab gun???? |

I flip-flop between a DPMS shorty and a WASR-10. I'm thinking real seriously about a "tactical" type shotty, though. I want to keep the cost of what might be stolen down to a minimum and 70% of the time that eliminates the shorty. Too much jack in that gun to leave it unattended in my truck for long periods of time. |
![]() The truck monkey kicks ass! |
Fixed it for ya!!! Dude, that things got more bells and whistles than a brand new BMW M5....what's its' base user program....iShoot??? |

In years past I would have said .30Carbine, but they are no longer cheap and plentifull. So today I would recommend an sks, a beat up cheap shooter grade gun you would not be upset about losing if it were stolen or taken as evidence for a prolonged period. If you must, shorten the barrel to 16 1/4", make minor mods to make it more handy, a cheap folder is about as far as I would go. A beat old 30-30 or .357 lever gun would be an option, is more PC looking, but even a beat one tends to cost more than an sks. Any of the other rifles are much too expensive to consider, to put at risk. |
| Mine WOULD be an AR15 everyday.........however I actually work in Boston.........on a federal facility.......so guns are verbotten........I usually carry my Sig P228 with me - but I'd prefer to carry and AR everywhere..........I CAN legally carry my M4gery in my vehicle in Mass. - I just can't walk around in Boston with it............... |
Just curious, how moola do you have in that thing? Its quite unSAR like in its appearence. |
| My idea is a Mossberg 590, 8shot capacity, Mariner finish, 20" barrel. 12Ga. with a sidesaddle and speedfeed stock. Add a small shoulder bag with more ammo and other supplies. Speaking of Ammo, the whole purpose of shotguns is versatility, so I would have rubber buckshot, rubber slugs, salt rounds, birdshot, buckshot, beanbags, flares, and slugs available. In the sidesaddle, I would keep 3 birdshot & 3 - 00 Buck. In the Stock, 2 slugs on one side 1 rubber buckshot, one rubber slug on the other. All ammo would be picked by brand and cartridge color so, say, red= slug, orange = non-lethal, black = birdshot, green = buckshot. Your ammo bag carries more of each and the flares / salt rounds. |
Oh good grief. Mine works just fine like it is. I will, however, put the ACE stock on it when they introduce it. There is also someone already making one for the 180B, so all this is about is just a chance to take a swipe at a business with whom you never have had intention of buying from. Otherwise, you would buy one, buy the aftermarket stock, and put it on. Oh wait, that would mean spending more than the $650 MSRP. Don't miss a chance to bash, huh? If they did all the things that a few people are clamoring for, the damn thing would cost over $900 and then the same people would be whining about the price. ![]() If you want a folder that bad, go find an original. Oh wait, they are $900+. Never mind. Besides, ArmaLite has already said that they are looking into several options, but haven't decided which way they are gonna go yet. They even did a poll on their company website. But never mind all that, just bash away.
