Not the grade part but the comments that may be in there because they thought I was a bad kid? DPD just called me back and I go in Wed. for a job interview but I dont know what to say about my past. READ: PAST, more than 10yrs ago. Hung around all the druggie kids because they would always be willing to skip class but that put me under scrutiny from the school admins and they searched my locker for guns and drugs, never found anything but I ended up kicked out because I had a swiss army knife in my locker. Zero tolerance and all. They let me back in the next year. Never did any drugs either but Im sure they pegged me in that crowd. So, how much will this affect me and do you think I can get a copy so I can prepare myself? Never been arrested as an adult, was once as a kid for spraying graffitti but I cleaned it all up and never got charged. I would hate for them to rule me out as a bad seed. It was long ago when I thought I was an invincible teenager and the future didnt matter.

I don't know about your school system but my high school transcripts only contained my grades. It is just a print out of your classes and grades. Likely it won't even come from your high school but rather a central office which prints from a database. You can request a copy for yourself first before you send it to your BI if you have any doubts.

Well, the reason I ask is because when I turned 21 I went to my local PD for a pistol permit, the city I went to high school in. Its only a two week wait the first time around. So I go back after 2 weeks and the detective starts grilling me about why I want a pistol and this and that and said he talked to the high school and mentioned my less than stellar high school career. Said he needed to do more "investigating" and to come back in two more weeks. I never went back, just moved to the next city over and had my pistol in a few days. But that incident has me nervous now.

Well, you should be honest about your past whether good or bad. If you lie it will come out later I'm sure. As far as your HS transcripts, they should read your class standing, GPA & grades for each quarter or semester, however your HS decided to format it. They basically want know how you faired in HS since it can reveal some character & intelligence levels.

my transcripts just have my grades and dates.

If I were you I would just take responsibility for your actions, I did plenty of stupid stuff when I was younger and I cringe at the thought of some of the things.  But hey I fess up to them because i have nothing to hide and show that I know they were wrong.

Do you really think they are going to care?  I mean unless your background investigator is a ass hat he understands that boys will be boys.

Schools are pretty guarded with discipliary or behavioral records.  Most times they don't include them in the file that they send to yor new school when you change districts.  They are concerned with liability over anything they say about you, and labeling a kid before he gets established in new school.  In the case of your pistol permit application, it is likely that many of yor teachers remebered you since it was only 3 years after high school.

Your transcript will probably show your explusion, since they will have to document why you did not complete the school year.  Bettter to be more honest up front.  I know some good cops who were total deliquents as minors.  It will be important to show that you do not run with that kind of crown any more.
