It's been a while since we had a thread for poking fun at ourselves.  So I'll start up with a couple of stories.

When I at the academy, we were headed to the driving range for our night pursuit training.  The instructors had all the sedans lined up infront of the classroom as we got there.  We grabbed our goofy white driving helmets and started getting into the cars.  Three of us got into the first sedan and the instructor was waiting for everone to get ready before we drove over to the pursuit course.  I was sitting in the backseat looking out the back window.  One of the instructors yelled out "Hoaaah! Lets get the show on the road!".  He jumped across the trunk of our sedan and tried to roll off.  Instead, his ass went through the back window and I got covered in glass.  My two classmates in the front seat had an outburst of uncontrollable laughter and the instructor got extremely embarrased.  He had to stay behind and write a memo for the damage.

A few weeks later, we had our simunitions practical, but we had to sit through a classroom lecture first.  We were sitting in the classroom and the instructor was demonstrating a simmunitions pistol during his lecture.  He had it in is hand and was talking about covering the threat as he pulled the trigger.  POP!  The round hit the wall next to a student's head and bounced off hitting another classmate in the face, on the bridge of his nose.  The instructor stuttered for a moment, and gave the class a 15 minute break.

When I first worked in K9 I had a pretty "hot" dog.  We were doing building searches with a suspect hidden inside (training).   I began to give the commands in the doorway before I released the dog for the search and the dog went into drive.  I didn't know and wasn't paying attention because I was new to the game.  The dog turned and climbed the lead and shredded my wrist.  The toughest part was that I HAD TO immediately get in there and get control over the dog and re-assert my authority or he would forever try me.  All that I could do was wrap my wrist and grab the lead to assert some control over the dog before I could go to the hospital.  Funny now, not then.

The K9's name was Thunder.

We get ours from the same vendor that you do.  The K9 that did that to me went back to the vendor and straight to the military.

Its all fun and games until someone is hurt.  Then its all woops sorry about that.

You didnt get bit if you didnt get stitches.

Not so long ago, we invited a a soon to be handler to a training day. He had been selected to go to K9 school, just had not been yet. Lucky for him, he got the handle one of the dogs, just to see how he might do. We set up some aids, got the dog out and transferred the leash to him. We began giving him instructions on how to walk with the dog on line etc. While doing this the dog promply hiked its leg and began pissing on the guys leg. He stood there, still listening to the instructions, completely oblivious to the dog pissing on him, until the outburst of laughter ....

Poor guy, I still feel bad about that...
