I recently went to the EP/Security Specialist course at Strategic Weapons Academy of Texas. It was an outstanding course. The course lasted about 8 days, and, was just short of 1K in cost. It was well worth it. The shooting portion included handgun, AR-15 varient platform, shotgun, and, AK-47. The unarmed section was outstanding, and taught very good tecniques and tactics on a basic level. The focus was on handgun, as, that is a primary EP weapon. I learned a great deal about handgun, and, combat shooting in general. The course included competetive shooing civilians, overseas contractors, Corsicanan, TX SWAT, and, prior service personnel. If you plan on working in security in TX, this course is really great. it provides level III-IV training and certification. Most III/IV cert courses would run you about 500 bucks anyway. Richard Ray was our primary instructor, and, that guy knows his stuff. He is a good instructor, There were a number of ARFCOMers among the class, too. There is another course coming up, and, I'd encourage anyone who wants to do EP or anything in that vein to take this course. I would be happy to go into it further with anyone who has any questions. It is an extrodinary value. I put about 850 rounds through my pistol, about 40 in shotgun, about 200 .223, and about 100 in 7.62X39. That is all |
