jeezus this sucks. started late last week with just t a touch of preasure in my upper right molar. now it just hurts like a bitch just to the touch. just took some motrin so I can go back to sleep, but it isn't kicking in. What's wierd is that the last time I was at the dentist, 2 months ago, nothing showed up on the x-rays or anything, and this is on the side that the dental hygenist said was the cleaner side.

Go get this stuff at Rite-Aid & apply it!  I had a tooth crumble once, and it exposed the nerve.  This saved me from sheer hell.

I hope you get feeling better soon bro.  Can you get seen on an emergency basis, like tonight?

Ice might help you out too.

Not really a big deal if you have insurance.

Grab yourself some percocets and enjoy the ride...

Sucks I know......this is what gave it away " now it just hurts like a bitch just to the touch"
Sounds like it got progressively worse, now even touching the tooth it hurts...gas pressure from the nerve dying comes through as pain.

Last really bad toothache i had several years back, ice cold water was the only relief i could get. Something about when it gets infected the ice water actually helps rather than causes more pain as you would expect.

I had to go on antibiotics for a few days then get a root canal on that one, probably the worst 4 days of my life.

Good luck, toothaches suck

It is possible you have a gum infection as well, rather than tooth decay or root infection.  I had a gum infection once, relatively shortly after my last dentist visit, and I couldn't really differentiate the pain I was feeling from how tooth pain had felt in the past.  It was extremely aggravating, to the point that I went to the ER for meds because I couldn't even sleep.  When I got in to see my dentist the next day, all he had to do was take a syringe and a curved, small gauge needle and basically used it to get between my tooth and gum (where the infection was) and flush it with an antiseptic.  This resulted in almost immediate relief.  After that it was a round of antibiotics to knock it out and back to normal.

If cold water gives you relief, it's a sure sign of infection rather than decay causing the pain.  Cold water gives relief because the inflammation response is what is causing the pain, and cold helps reduce inflammation.  I had a similar problem with a broken tooth that got infected

Just leave it alone for two weeks, yeah it hurts, but it gets better.....promise.***

*** I'm no expert, this is meant as satire, and not to be taken seriously.

But really I need to get to the dentist

Like minimum  9 years ago.

You could save money by drilling the tooth yourself.

Just t got back from the dentist no cavities no cracks.  I have a 9mm pocket in my gum. I don't know how they missed it the last time I was there it my dentist was like wtf? I have never missed a checkup or cleaning and I haven't had a cavity since I was a kid.

They cleaned it out and gave me a script for some antibiotics and told me to call him tomorrow to tell him how it feels. But all in all it loose as if I might just loose it.

I don't want to hear any more about dentists. I've spent the last month getting two six year molars fixed  (four visits) and probably $1400.

I wish you well.
