...can you tell the difference, because I can't....

I have taken a few trips to other countries over the past several years. I always appreciate the better, cleaner flavor of the locally bottled Coke with real sugar while I'm down there. It's my substitute for drinking the local water, which is generally not recommended. CJ |

I drink cola maybe 5-8 times a year but can notice a difference. The actual taste is identical as far as I think Ican tell,it doesn't seem like there is any change to the flavor formula but it isn't as syrupy and tongue coating as much.
I honestly don't know if it's the plecebo effect or whether there is any difference at all.I think my chances at a taste test would likely run no better than 50/50 after a couple sips possibly but it should be easy to do and there have to be tests possible if there is anything to the perceived coating of HFCS vs sugar. This is one for the Mythbusters! |

I have cases of the Throw back in my garage. I drink it whenever I am home. We have fountain machines at the office with regular mountain dew. So I often end up finishing a can of throw back (from my bagged lunch), then getting a glass from the fountain machine. Its night and day, for me. |

Quoted: Doesn't that break down like gas over time. Yep, they definitely have a shelf life –– I won't buy more than I can drink before they go bad. (E.g., I can't recall when they finally dried up on the store shelves last year, but my stash lasted me until just past Christmas and they still tasted good when I finished them.) I wish they'd just add it to the regular production line-up so we wouldn't have to stockpile the stuff. (Of course, I also wish they would sell Mt. Dew LiveWire in Alabama so I didn't have to bootleg it in from neighboring states. Did I mention that I like Mt. Dew? |

I actually like the HFCS Pepsi version better than the real sugar. That's the only one I've tried. Also, I've noticed the sugar versions don't retain a head very long and seem to fizz less just sitting there. I notice that as well. They also seem to be bland and lack bite. Especially the Dr. Pepper one compared to the HFCS one, or even how I remember it back in the 70s. |

So, since they say it is for a limited time only....do we start hoarding them like ammo.... I am!!! The difference is night and day to me. You have to taste them side by side. Made with sugar, it's cleaner, sweeter, and lighter. Plus - it takes me back to the 80s!!!! |

Throw back to when? When was the change from sugar to HFCS?
I drink a lot of Coke. Fountain pop is always better. I could do a blind taste test of fountain Cokes and could tell you where they are from. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, White Castle, etc. They have their own formulas. WC used to be my favorite when they used the small 'air' filled, almost crushed ice that Frisch's Big Boy still uses. We cruise every year so we hit Mexico all the time. I have always wanted to try the Coke but didn't want to waste money buying a can not knowing if it's the right stuff when I can drink all I want on the ship. How can you tell by looking at the can? I talked to a guy a couple years ago down there drinking a Coke and he said it tasted the same so I didn't buy one. I'm sure if anyone could tell it would be me. BTW, Coke tastes better out of bottles than cans also. I miss bottles. I could drink an ice cold bottle of Coke straight but I need a big glass of ice to drink a can. |
