[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Three Stooges = Timeless Humor... (Page 1 of 2)

Love 'em. My favorite stooge was Larry Fine (which puts me in a minority, since most people will say Moe or Curly). I loved the "ripping" sound effects they used when Moe ripped out a handful of Larry's hair. Mine, too. Their supporting cast was always hilarious, as well. And Christine Mcintyre (the blonde woman used in many shows) was just plain gorgeous. |

Not just your wife, but women don't get/like the stooges. Their loss. It's funny, but there does seem to be certain kinds of humor that only guys get. Another example of that is the movie "DUMB AND DUMBER." Every guy I know thought it was hilarious, and all the women I know hated it. |

I've never enjoyed slapstick. |

Timeless is a perfect description for the Stooges. Made me laugh when I was 6, makes me laugh just as hard today.
There was a Simpson's episode where Homer and Marge were trying to dissuade Bart from becoming a daredevil. They took him to the hospital where Dr. Hibbert showed them the horrible injuries people had from trying to copy Capt. Lance Murdock's stunts. Then Hibbert says, "I won't even subject you to the horrors of the Three Stooges ward...". Handfull's of hair being ripped out, pokes in the eye, saws run across skulls, noses grabbed by pliers..

| I grew up watching them on Saturday mornings. I did then and still do find them hilarious. Plus I love how they are "clean" and don't have to sink to such lows like nowadays to be funny. Don't get me wrong, the obscene over the top things can put me in tears, but the stooges had class. |

I don't want to get lynched for saying this, but the Cohen bros movie from earlier this year was a great homage to the trio in my opinion. I haven't had such a wholesome, family friendly laugh that deep since watching classic cartoons, abbot and Costelly, Danny Kaye, and of course the Three Stooges.
It's worth a look at the very least due to Sophia Vergra and the nun all nuns should aspire to be, Larry David Kate Upton!

Not just your wife, but women don't get/like the stooges. Their loss. Why all the hate? I think they are funny. But then I've always liked slapstick and generally goofy humor. My husband and two other guys were trying to get a stubborn tire off a rim. They looked like the three stooges. I started with the whoop whoop whoop, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. They all stopped and stood up and gave me a "look". |
