More like anthropology than hermeneutics. I enjoyed my hermeneutics class in Seminary. But hermeneutics is more of a theory and methodology of interpretation of Scripture...

We did this study certain aspect's of history in order to better understand the interpretation, we are knee deep in the Pauline Corpus'.
