78-81 were great years for big comedy movies.

The Blues Brothers

I love all of the ones listed (and many more, of course), but I will watch all or part of The Blues Brothers any time I catch it while channel surfing, regardless of what else I have to do or watch. It is one of the few comedies I will watch over and over again like that, and one of even fewer movies that my wife enjoys as much as I do. It is one of the most quotable movies in history, at one time had the longest (and most expensive) on-screen car chase, has one of the best casts (especially supporting roles and musical cameos), and has the very best soundtrack of any comedy in movie history IMHO.

+1 what he said. If I come across it on TV I'll at least watch some of it (especially the car chases) even though I have the special edition DVD. The whole movie is watchable multiple times, no slow draggy spots.

Stripes & Animal House = # 2 & 3 in that order. I can watch both all the way thru without channel surfing during the slow parts or fast forwarding the tape/DVD. If channel surfing I have to at least watch the parade ground bit in Stripes. Plus P.J. Soles > Karen Allen

Caddyshack....I'll watch for the Bill Murray parts & the Rodney Dangerfield bits. Not a big Chevy Chase fan.
