You'd think that the laughing at they've gotten every other year when they bring this up would make them realize it's a complete non-issue. But no, they keep harping on it even though Bush probably does more on a "vacation" day than they do all week. He was on foxnews the other day in his truck talking about his schedule. He had gotten up at 5:30AM and had had multiple briefings. I think his briefings were done earlier than most people get up but I can't remember for sure what time he said

We didn't bitch when the last guy took one for 8 years. Hell, it was better when he WAS gone!

Is the President ever really on vacation?

His whole Secret Service detachment is there.

Still gets his morning and evening National Security Briefing.

He has access to top of line communications and can be contacted at a moments notice.

I seriously doubt that there's a whole lot of vital stuff that can only be done at the White house and that can't be done at the ranch. This is the era of computers and global communications, you know. Oh what the hell, they don't care.
