Looking kinda aged. Makes sense, British healthcare and all. Ringos' kid, Zak is a good drummer. Seems they should stop the songs to play some more commercials. Must hav been 200 in the first half.

British healthcare? for multimillionaires? I am going to say they can get the best doctors with their cash....all in their 60's and they led the rockstar life...drugs etc...give em a break.

they were GOOD!

Yes, it's gone forever, but I still wouldn't have minded to see 'ole Pete smash the fuck out of that drum kit.

Just for old times sake.

There probably wasn't usually much left to smash after Keith got done with it.

True enough.

I was in highschool in the 80's when they had their "last tour"

I thought "CSI" was coming on...

Daltrey looked like someones Grandpa, and Pete looked like one of those creepy old men at the park.

2/7/2010 4:21:54 PM EDT
[#9]
not bad considering Pete is 65 and almost deaf and Roger is 66.

"Hope I Die Before I Get Old" Yeah, wright, matey! They only lost Keith Moon "the loon" and replaced him with Ringo's son.

About what I expected

As someone said in the other thread... it was like they ran 10 miles & then started singing.

John Entwistle passed away some years ago. That was the final, true death of The Who. (They did manage to put out some decent stuff with Kenney Jones post-Moon, so while The Who was never the same without Keith, it wasn't fully dead until John passed.)

I think someone else said it first , Kieth was the drum smasher.

I'm old fart , was there.

The Who?

And here I was wondering why they had a bunch of old fukkers playing CSI series theme songs for the half time show.

Pete Townsend + Kiddie Porn = Eternal Fail no matter how good they sound.

Went out gacked on coke in the sack with a hooker, ha, hookers and blow baby.

The Brits have a two-tier system. If you have money, you can get private care.

The light stage was better than the band.

I like Roger Daltrey best as Fitzcairn on Highlander.

My kid was excited, 14, he is getting into all of the older rock, I just introduced him to The Who.

I am a big fan of The Who. I think they are in the top 5 greatest R&R bands of all time. Pete Townsend is a brilliant songwriter. Also in the top 5. He writes as if Daltry's voice was an instrument. However, they are way past there prime. The death of Moon and then Entwistle really knocked the wind out of them. They are not an arena act anymore. They should still play, if they want to. Smaller venues, more personal experiences is where they should be now.

I didn't care for them back in the 80's and they don't interest me now.

So I changed the channel..

Those allegations were proven to be bullshit by a few independent sources and he was acquitted by the British courts, so, fail on you.

I love their music, but the halftime show was awful.  It was like bad karaoke routine.   Why try to relive the glory days if you suck.  And being musicians, they had to realize how bad they sucked.     I was embarrassed for them.

Other than that, it was an amazing show.   to the stagehands/roadies.

That was my thought too. I felt embarrassed for them, but the light show was great.

From 1973.  The Who drummer passes out on stage from animal tranquilizer(?)  About 4 minutes in, they realize something is going wrong. They ask the crowd for a drummer. Its amazing that any of 'em are still alive...

I stand corrected! Entwistle was the bass player who never changed his expression, or smashed equipment as I recall.

It shows that even the NFL is tight on money.  Who the hell was that on stage.  It looked like ALF (Assisted living Facility) mistakenly left their doors open and some how the elderly folks managed to find themselves onto the bowl of supers.

I agree..............I am glad they didnt play "can you see the real me", cause nobody could play the bass like Entwistle on that song

I thought it fitting that they finished their act with "Don't Get Fooled Again"...Meet the new boss same as the old boss....A swipe at Obongo?

I love the Who, but they got outplayed by their stage last night.

That thing was sweet!

I thought that as well, and I'm sure many of the millions in the viewing audience did too. These are anti-government times!

As I watched the halftime show last night it was clear to me that their window had closed a long, long time ago.

Hard to believe they could have performed at Super Bowl I.

I think AC/DC could put on a good show, but they need to start trying to find some newer talents instead of going with fossils every year

They just didn't sound the same, they were straining to get by this time.  I like the Who and it was painful listening to some of it.

It was painful listening to ALL of it , who are you kidding.

Fuck we might as well get the Stones and Springsteen too

Oh.... right , we had those worthless 60 year old fucks too

Just think , you got to watch a 60? year old guy singing about a "teenage wasteland".

Come on WTF

Just think in another 20 years Alice Cooper will be old enough for the halftime show

I swear they would have Bill Haley and Buddy Holly if they werent fucking dead. I dont even know if Bill Haley is dead but you get the jist

Next years show will probably be the (insert 60 year old fuck band from the 60s)

I saw Daltrey on his solo tour a few months ago, and he's voice has completely had it.  Nothing like when I saw "The Final Who Tour, we really serious this time" back around 2004.

roger can't hit the high notes like he used to
most notably the fist tune
2/8/2010 4:37:59 AM EDT

Daltry's harmonica was totally faked, as was the scream at the end of Won't get fooled again..  They pulled back to an aerial when he yells, you dont' see that couple seconds in closeup.

I was always a Who fan, way back in the '60s.
They have just got old, just like the rest of us old farts.

I liked the Who in their day, but I would have preferred twenty year old females with wardrobe malfunctions...
2/8/2010 5:02:29 AM EDT

For me the Who died September 7,1978.To the poster that mentioned next years 60 year old,I humbly submit John Fogerty. He can still play and sing.
