I like it too - much better than that first version with the ugly lattice-work shit. I just think they should build a second - not sure if there is room though, what with the security requirement to keep it so far from the roads. |

WTC 7 wasn't hit by a plane, it was hit by debris falling from the main towers. Note to self: learn to type faster. |
I'd say when building the "Freedom" Tower (as it will be called); it should have a battery of CIWS Gus on all four sides (all you Navy guys know what I'm talking about); for those that don't know. The Phalanx Close In Weapon System (CIWS). A radar guided, fast-firing 20mm gatling gun (smilarly found on most fighter jets an on the old M163 Tracked Vehicle) capable of literally dismantling a missile in flight. Used on nearly every US Navy Vessel, the system protects the target from close range cruise missiles. A gun can be positioned on each side of the structure and controlled by the PAPD (Port Authority Police of NY and NJ) to defend the airspace around the tower. I know; I know, is a long shot, but is as good as any. Or if yo want to go the missile way, then replace the CIWS with an Avenger Turret off an Avenger Vehicle.  Again, one per side. |

If you were at ground zero, you would understand why #7 fell. Couple of million tons of debris shaking your foundation and you would fall too. As far as the towers, put them back up the same but taller and with the UN on top so if it ever happens again, we can at least get them to move out of this country. Maybe France would want them |

I believe the new WTC complex will have four buildings over 900' tall. It's going to look like a different city, good or bad. Two other buildings that are going up in NYC are the 80 South Street Tower which will measure 1,123' and The World Bank Tower of New York at 1,200'. The Fordham Spire in Chicago will be 2,000' when it is projected to be completed by 2010. Beautiful building. Then there's Burj Dubai, being built in United Arab Emirates.  Total height will be 2,657', unless it is made taller before completion in '08-'09.

20mm rounds have to end up somewhere - and will likely get voted down. Stinger missiles are limited in range - they depend on visual sighting for the most part, and are not radar-guided. HAWKs have much creater range, and are integrated with radar for guidance and early warning, plus all Army HAWK units have converted to PATRIOT. We have this stuff just sitting around somewhere. It's win - win for New York and the DoD.  Theguys manning the HAWKS should definitely have some MANPADS Stingers though.We could also propably mount AMRAAMs or even other such traditional Air to Air systems - but I will leave it to the AF guys as to how feasible this would be. |
