Sure evil exists, but you cannot hope to vanquish evil by becoming evil yourself. Peace requires at least some amount of compromise, finesse, and creativity. War allows for none of those things. Thinking in black/white evi/good terms is extraordinarily navie and indicates lack of mature judgement.

I am an anti-statist and I think that most wars (and all the worst ones ever known) have been caused by organized states, so let's be clear on what the problem is first, then when can at least work to do something about. As far as I know, attempts to create peace by organized states, not involving war, have never been seriously attempted, so it is really no surprise that it has never happened.

I really don't think the military/industrial state of today is up to the task of promoting world peace. Seems like all it does is piss people off and then get them killed. I guess that's good if your definition of peace goes something like "let's kill everyone who doesn't agree with us."

When it comes right down to it, maybe it is survival of the fittest. But "fittest" may not mean "strongest" but rather "smartest."

And yeah, that pic of the woman and her kid is just so terrible compared to the daily blood and guts imagery coming out of Iraq. Some of you are very misogynistic and need help.
