How many of you guys will actually permanently ignore someone on arfcom once the feature is implemented?

In my opinion, there's no point to a discussion forum when you only hear the people you want to hear.  Discussion involves people injecting different viewpoints, even those you disagree with.

What say you?

Are they really implementing a ignore button? Gay, where is the fun in that?

I wouldn't use it.

I come here for the debates, and to watch the train wreck...

I got a couple possabilites.

I would be okay with an "ignore" button for IM's

The people I'd ignore are the ones saying the same vapid sentiments over and over. I could write their posts for them.

You know, I don't think I would ever use the ignore button.  I don't bury my head in the sand to get away from things that I disagree with or am uncomfortable with.

Yes.  So lets say "obamalover" posts something.  He gets quoted again and again in a thread.  The only part of the discussion you will see is the people responding to, not "obamalover"' replies.

There are two people I can think of that I would ignore (one of them being you). Nothing they post is ever worth reading and attempting to do so only angers me. Beyond that I agree that ignoring people on a discussion board is silly.

J/K I would never ignore the possum guy.

Ohhh... drama.  Didn't think of that one, but someone comes to mind for that.  Personally I wouldn't ignore him though.  I just don't read his threads.  Every other one of this threads is something along the lines of, "My dog died", "I'm homeless", "My life is fucked", "Dumpster diving sucks", or "How much alcohol does it take to make you forget everything for the last 5 years", etc.

One, I don't think I've literally ever seen them make a single post that wasn't a troll.  The other two, one is an asshole and the other strikes me as a complete fucking moron.

There's one in particular I wouldn't mind ignoring in threads of a certain topic, outside of that there's no issue. There's another that I wouldn't miss at all if he dropped off the forum tomorrow.

If people comment about the ignored poster though you are missing half the conversation and that makes it difficult to comprehend. Probably won't use it.

It's in use on the FAL Files.............I tried it for awhile, and its just as you say. The 'ignored' says something in his typical fashion, gets a bunch of folks wound up, and you have no idea what is going on cause everytime he's quoted , its 'BLANKED OUT' .

I stopped using it.

No, you will see someting like "assmonkey" as a reply post header, and then a blank message body. Since you don't care, it won't matter.

For as long as I've been here, I really only have one person that I'd put there. I'm just really tired of reading that persons dumb assed shit. (None of you will know who that is though)

Instead of an "Ignore" button, I'd appreciate if staff would implement a filter to reject every "and so it begins"  post.

That would be just dandy

Only because those 5 people always have the same predictable regurgitated asshat views.  I do not need to keep reading them to know they are spewing the same garbage they have been spewing for years.

I don't need a button to ignore someone. FWIW, I never remember who I'm supposed to ignore, so I don't really ignore anyone. I've heard the internets is serious business. I'm not buying it.

I have a couple of people on here that I can't stand. They seem to come right out and take personal stabs at me anytime they can just because of where I work. Do I like it? NO! But I still won't ignore them. They can say what they want and I can either ignore them myself, or listen to their opinion. If I ignore them, there may be the one time that either they tell me something I didn't know, or I may sway them a bit. You never know. Plus, it's just the internet. I don't care that much.
