Silent Beagle? A contradiction in terms!

Seriously though, a failure here would not surprize me...from what I heard, it was kinda a cheepie effort...Six days ago, all systems on board were shut down, except for a TIMER that was supposed to 'wake' the main computor up in time to deploy the landing parachute and airbags...just think what happens if that wee timer don't work right!

I think the Martians a getting tired of us littering their planet and are taking out the spacecraft in orbit.

Yeah, you can wait sitting down.
You can wait standing up.
You can go for fish & chips.
You can take a nap...

You gave yourselves a LOT of options! [ROFL2]

just  goes to prove me theory that there is an alien space station on mars    from which all ufo sightings originate from. kinda weird that both our martain rover and britans don't work

coincidence?

Which martian rover? Pathfinder ran out of juice a long time ago, the next two rovers aren't due to land until Jan 3 and Jan 24.

The owners of the planet probably pulled the plug.

Why do the Brits name so much shit after dogs?  What do they have against pooches?

I'll bet Richard Hoagland is bummed.

Wonder how long it takes for a "signal" to get from Mars to Earth?

It's named after the vessel that carried Charles Darwin.  Officially it is the Beagle 2.

FWIW - We've been doing this for +40 years (building and flying spacecraft).  As far as I know this is the Brits 1st attempt at a space probe.

Update 02:15 GMT - still no signal.

Sorry, but the Pathfinder mission was slated for 30 sols and lasted for 84 sols. Sojourner (the rover) outlasted the lander and couldn't communicate with earth.

Awww.....and just think of all the fun that could have been had with various commands....

"Stay beagle, stay!"  "Fetch!"

Wait....did they remember to send it "Speak Beagle, Speak!"  [;D]

Or maybe someone said "Beagle, play dead!"  [lol]

Yah, I'm tired.

Let's face it, landing stuff on Mars is hard [:(].  Let's hope they get it perfected before we send manned missions!
