It is the season and this was perhaps the greatest comedy episode ever filmed.

The crazy thing is that I had just gotten a recording of the Hindenburg wreck broadcast. Les’s broadcast was pretty much the exact same

The episode where the news crew follows Herb's family for a documentary is almost as hilarious.

ETA also where Mr. Carlson runs for public office and tries to lose the election is another good one

this was also in the episode leading up to why Carlson was so bad at promotions.

Venus Flytrap: What do you suppose he's up to?

Dr. Johnny Fever: Carlson? I don't know. You should have been here for the big wig promotion.

Venus Flytrap: What happened?

Dr. Johnny Fever: Well, naturally, it didn't work, and we ended up with a warehouse full of wigs. Carlson, he couldn't figure out how to get rid of 'em until the Guatemalan earthquake.

Venus Flytrap: Say what?

Dr. Johnny Fever: Well, the Red Cross called out, you know, for blankets, clothes, anything. So Carlson, out of the goodness of his heart, shipped these destitute earthquake victims in Guatemala three thousand blonde stretch wigs. You know, I still have this picture in my mind of quake victims stumbling through the rubble - all looking like Dolly Parton.

I know this is a classic from my childhood of the 70's but I just have never found it funny.

I know many do and that's cool too.

I saw it with the family when it aired as well. I remember my Dad almost rolling out of his Lazy Boy.

Richard Sanders' (Les Nessman) acting and delivery of the play by play and the recap at the office really makes this episode so funny.
The writers did a great job with all the lines, but the delivery is what elevates it to the classic it is.

The description and timing of the "skydivers" then realization they were turkeys going the windshield of a parked car is just great timing.
Him saying "It's almost like they were..... organized" makes me laugh every time.

However, the thing that caps it all is Gordon Jump (Mr Carlson) coming out with those feathers all over him and delivering great line: "God as my witness.... I thought turkeys could fly"

The episode where Fever participates in an anti DUI session is also gold.

ProTip: Never pick a fight with a tree planter. He swings a hoedad for 9 hours a day, carries 30-40 pounds of seedlings on his back, and has 12-14 friends just like him hiding out on the other side of the junk butt pile. They will fuck your shit up.

Where his reflexes get faster the more he drinks? Love that one.

WKRP was SO good back then. So many great bits and lines.
