I can find Small Batch all day at $40.  Single Barrel is non-existent.  Single Barrel is also one of my favorites.  There is a distinct difference between the two with small batch being much less complex.

Weller12 can be found on dusty shelves in rural stores, but that's it.  I've seen SR in quantity locally, but I'm not a fan.  I'll buy a fifth of antique, but it's still second to 12yr.

Anybody make Kentucky coffee? Irish coffee but using the vastly superior bourbon in place of Irish whiskey.

I made it once but it wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. May have been my “recipe.”

No, I don't want to make my bourbon taste bad.

I wanted to drink all day tomorrow. I guess I’ll hold the coffee on that Kentucky coffee.

The three rye is one of my favorites also.

The bottle in this picture is a limited single barrel reserve. Extremely hard to find. It belongs to my brother who was nice enough to share it with me.

Hands down one of the finest Bourbons I’ve ever had.

I had already been planning a drive to Knob Creek, But also they delayed the Kentucky Bourbon Festival to the following weekend, the 15-18th of October. I'm thinking about staying the whole week after. And since there is a Caesar's casino across the river from Louisville in Indiana....

Really starting to like Old Grand Dad 114, and since it's under 20 bucks, it's a steal.
My absolute favorite is Garrison Bros bourbon made in Hye TX. .
Other regulars are Woodford reserve double oaked and Wild Turkey Longbranch.
Favorite rye is Whistlepig Piggyback 6yo

I literally could not finish a glass of Larceny. It tasted like a hay bale. I've tried several bourbons that are even lightly wheated, and I don't like them. Not a fan of Weller, Pure Kentucky, etc.

I was disappointed about the Weller. I really wanted to like it.

People either hate it or love it. I happen to like it just fine. It's not very complex but is smooth as silk. My wife said it tastes like dirt.

Na.  Basically all those bottles were purchased between 2003-2006.  I used to pay $60 for Stagg.  Now that its cool to drink bourbon EVERYONE ELSE is the reason I cant find it anymore.

So in a bunch of reviews I was seeing that the EW BiB was regarded as equal or better than the EW SB...

Bull.. that is a big hunk of poop.

I just did a compare and contrast.. the Single Barrel blows it out of the water... in smell, flavor, and even mouth feel!

And as always YMMV.  Its all about personal pref.. and i prefer EW single barrel!

I’m honestly not a huge fan either but it seemed better when I tasted it at the distillery. Might have been a different batch. Might have been the fact that I was on my third tasting tour of the day.

technically is a bourbon, and huge amounts of dickel are sold every year as bourbon. Old Scout, Barrell Bourbon, OKI Bourbon, and several other very prominent bourbons are all produced at Dickel. Legally all tennessee whiskies can be called bourbon with zero changes made to any part of their process, and the companies that produce it choose to use the words bourbon or TN Whiskey depending on what seems like it would sell better in that scenario.

Stopped by my local privately owned liquor store yesterday. Eagle Rare: $69.99, Buffalo Trace: $39.99, Henry Mckenna 10 year: $79.99. I always see guy saying they're getting Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare for around $30 a bottle. I did pick up the Buffalo Trace because I can never find it. Hadn't had it in a while but I was quickly reminded I enjoy it. I also picked up a bottle of Old Forester 86 proof for around $25, I'd never tried it but it was pretty decent and I'll probably buy it again.

Buffalo Trace is $23.99 here. Eagle Rare a couple bucks more. BT isn’t $40 good, IMO.

ABC Liquors is the big chain around here, they get Buffalo Trace in small quantities but it's usually sold out before they even unload it off the truck. It usually runs closer to $30 when they have it. I don't think It's $40 good either but I figured I better get it while I had the opportunity. Eagle Rare is basically unobtanium around here. That was the first time I'd even seen an actual bottle.

I really don't understand the hype, its good bourbon, but to go crazy like that. I've been to the distillery twice, I do like Buffalo Trace, but considering I can get 750ML of Wild Turkey 101 for $18....Ummmm yeah, it's a no brainer.

That is not correct. Tennessee whiskey has to be filtered through sugar maple charcoal and that is not allowed to be considered bourbon because it adds additional flavoring.

It was the first time I'd shopped that store. I will say he had an amazing selection compared to the chain stores but his prices were obviously high on the stuff you can't normally find around here. He was basically on par with the common bottles like Beam white label and JD.

That is sweet, I have a 4 year rye and a 6 year single barrel to go with my big bottle of pot still!

ETA:  I had intended to open the 6 year at my wedding in May, but didn't so I think I will open it on my 40th birthday coming up here.

Nope, the Lincoln process has been determined to in no way disqualify tennesee whiskey from being bourbon.

That's how you get products like this

https://thebourbonculture.com/whiskey-reviews/smooth-ambler-old-scout-single-barrel-select-review/

this

https://whiskeyjar.blog/2018/06/25/barrell-bourbon-single-barrel/

or this

https://www.breakingbourbon.com/single-barrel-club/sbc-9-not-your-typical-dickel-thats-what-she-said

all sourced direct from dickel with lincoln process filtering and still labeled as straight bourbon whiskey. Legally tenessee whiskey is bourbon, and outside of the US is sold as such because it has better recognition. In the US, it just depends on how they want to market it.
