My annual thread and pics will be forthcoming.

Leaving in the AM, about 2.5 hour drive, get my credentials at registration, and cars on course at 1220.

Nothing but Ferrari Challenge and Continental Tire Challenge on Wednesday but I am cool with that as I will get to see the GT4 Caymans turning a wheel in anger for the first time.

Got a room reserved about 10 miles up 95 but did that on purpose. A good run down 95 each morning will be good for my Cayman.

Getting a room right next to the track never lets it get warmed up good.

Rain tomorrow and Thursday..................can you say "night practice in the rain on Thursday night"........................................

Actually, now that it's not a Grand Am race anymore, it's going to be great if the current IMSA does it right.

Last year for the DPs and our P2s next year (called DPi) will be able to run just about any engine while FIA is going with a spec engine.

If IMSA does it right, we could have lots of European P2 teams coming here to race because they don't want to do the cookie cutter thing in Europe.

Some American teams that went to Europe to race P2 due to BOP favoring the POS DP cars will probably come home, like the Scott Sharp team and a couple of others.

It went to shit long ago when it was strictly a Grand Am deal and those POS DP cars. It's on the verge of becoming great again if it's done right.

IMSA, ACO, and FIA have been working together a lot on 2017 and beyond rules.

Will be there with the RV inside the turn out from the road course onto Turn 1. Swing by the Coachman Mirada in that corner for a cold one. Agree this year might be the breakthrough.

Who has it televised online with commentary and what not? Last year there was a link but it was a static camera and no sound

Wish I could go. I grew up in Orlando and we hit the 24 every year through the heyday of the IMSA series - mid-80s through the early 90s. That was a fantastic time to be a sportscar fan. I still hit Road Atlanta quite often, and I'm interested in seeing how the new series shakes out.

The GTLM race should be a good one also. Hoping the new Ford GT runs well, but asking it to complete the 24 is probably a bit much this early in its development. Will be rooting for the Vettes again, and it'll be interesting to see how the new M6s from RLL fare. And of course you can never count out the PNA 911s - fast and reliable.

First, that POS DP ain't a Corvette.

Second, I said for years when it came time to face real opposition, he would be gone.

Been overrated for a long time, being a big shot in an inferior series.

I was wearing the green Rolex 24 Hr at Daytona hat I got free when going there in 2009, as I dug myself out of the 29+ inches of snow this weekend! I'm already in the spirit to watch on TV this year. I miss the days of Speedvision and flag to flag coverage.

Not much going on today, just some Continental Tire Challenge cars and Ferrari Challenge.

Just had time to get a few Continental shots. Was letting autofocus do its thing but the cars were too fast for as close as I was. Didn't have to to play with the focus so some are a little out of focus:

I was at Turn 3 today and this Mustang wound up in the tires. He wasn't going all that fast but once he got in the wet grass, it was all over.

This car is owned by CW Wilson, the pitcher, and was the fastest in both practices today:

And of course, the Rum Bum guys with their old reliable, a 997 series 911:

Oh yeah, a Volusia County Deputy Sheriff pulled me over on the way back to the hotel.

I was having a ball in the Cayman and he was pacing me.

I figured he was gonna nail me good but he told me to slow down and take it easy after letting me worry for a bit.

I better go buy a FL lottery ticket.
