Interesting local story here. The DA now wants texting while driving to be a felony.
Read this story, short version, bus driver crashes school bus into another school bus and kills 2 kids and teacher. The real interesting part is that some parents had complained to the school and the bus owner about this driver texting a year before. http://www.wbir.com/story/news/2015/06/24/da-allen-should-be-a-felony-to-text-and-drive-in-tennessee/29241709/ |

It should be like this: Written warning Moving violation for 2nd stop 3 x texting violations result in loss of phone or, of driving rights The bus driver would by necessity suffer a harsher penalty 're his responsibilities. no one should be ticketed for using their device while stopped unless they impede normal traffic |

No. Absolutely not. I use my phone for navigation, weather, and entertainment all the time while driving. I also occasionally send a short text reply when someone has an urgent message.
I have had zero accidents or close calls. Ever. Meanwhile dipshits at the grocery store cant even push their cart down the isle without hitting mine. Felony? Fuck off. |

You kill someone with your reckless driving, yeah that'll get you a felony. Simply driving while texting a felony? No fucking way. You going to make eating while driving a felony next? |

I'm on the fence with this one. One mistake can be deadly. Hell, I've seen semi drivers swerving all over the road for texting. Is damn dangerous to text and drive, but a felony seems a little bit too far. I'm with the 13'er on this one. I've been almost run off the road on three separate occasions by absent minded drivers texting. Recently I witnessed a mother with several children in her mini-van texting while talking on a separate phone and "driving" with her knees. She was several lanes over on a major highway and swerving in and out of her lane. I was keeping an eye on her as I approached from behind when I realized the source of her erratic driving. It shouldn't be a felony, but maybe three violations should equal loss of driving privileges for six months and a mandatory remedial driving course. |

I'm OK with it being used as an aggravating circumstance to other existing traffic law violations, but unless you've killed or seriously crippled someone it shouldn't be a felony. |

I believe in personal freedom.
Text all you want while driving. but if it is proven you were, and cause a crash, no insurance coverage for you. the driver is personally responsible for all costs without bankruptcy protection. same for drunk driving and DWI drugs. do what you will, but if you harm another, you pay personally until the debt is paid in full. (lose your house, indentured servitude, whatever it takes.) However the plus side, is if you were not texting or drunk, you have full insurance protections |

Yep I am good with that Driving is the only thing you need to be doing behind the wheel. No texting, eating, putting on make up, ect. In that case. no radios in cars either as they distract you. Lets also take the gauges off the dash, y looking at them you take your eyes off the road. an no road signs . they distract you. |

| No. There's no reason to single out writing a text message from all the other ways drivers can be distracted. Besides, making it a felony won't change anything - people don't think they'll get caught or get in a wreck, just like speeding or going too fast for road conditions. I wonder if he thinks those should be felonies too. |
| Failure to maintain control of a vehicle and or distracted driving laws that most states have cover texting, talking on a cell, applying make up, eating, changing a diaper, masterbaiting (hey this is GD), and any thing else you can think of doing that impedes safe driving. There isn't any real need to make more laws. Enforce what laws we already have. Its a bunch of do gooders making themselfs feel good . |

Drivers who don't pay attention and can't at least maintain the speed limit piss me off to no end. Or the fucking dickhead camping in the left lane going 5-10 less than everyone else glancing up and down looking oblivious to the world. Just fucking drive you fucking assholes. |
