I noticed something in the article though. They did not report the student's name or gender, and kept calling him/her "child". The student however is now 18 and no longer a minor and became of age during the sexual portion of the relationship.

If she had just waited a few months there wouldn't be a legal case (assuming the student wasn't mentally challenged or legally incapable of providing consent even at the age of 18).

I'm betting that she's going to use that as part of her defense, that the student was of age during part of the relationship.

Granted don't mistake this for condoning her actions. I could never imagine (at least not without barfing

) being in any romantic relationship with someone young enough to be my child.

The only exception however is if both parties are over 21 and legally able to give consent. Even if creepy, by that age it's no one else's business what the age gap is.

But when one of them is your high school student... bleh.
