| Why do people still tag threads? Is it just a postCount++ annoyance, or do they really not know that you can click a subscribe button. Seems easier than having to click Reply, type "tag", and click submit. |

We have done this a bunch of times.
We have tools [gold and above] that give an advantage to have a post in the thread and if you want to find threads in search, you can't use the "find posts by user" if you don't post in the thread. There is a legitimate reason. |

Any paying member can subscribe to a thread. Yet I still see paying members tagging threads when there is literally an easier way to subscribe and find that thread, simply by using the subscriber button. Non-paying members can't search GD for "posts by user", so they don't have either option available to them. |

All of the people that you mention might not have those reasons. We can go to our last post in a thread. There are a few reasons to do this, I don't do it often since we can go to the last read post, but before that we all tagged threads multiple times to keep up. I still use it occasionally. Tag a long thread, and come back to it later. Skipping around a thread is another reason. If you don't have all the tools then you can't really complain about how others are surfing though. Like I said this thread has been done a bunch of times. Bronze guys are always the ones that bring it up.

The whole reason I didn't join years earlier. I fucking hated the 40 pages of "tag" you couldn't find anything of substance in a thread if you came late because you have a life.
Seriously, go look in the archives. Every single thread would have pages of it. It was the only way to track a thread back then until he instituted a subscribe button. |
