I've always wanted a sword...a real one. But most I've seen where the "show" type made of soft steel and wouldn't cut butter. Or the customs that cost more then my truck..well I finally broke down and bought a Cold Steel hand an a half broad sword. And man it cool.....and very, very sharp!!!!! I'm a knife guy and collect folders and a few fixed blades.....and this monster is flat scary. I'll have to wait to get home to really try it out,. www.coldsteel.com/88hnh.html |

There is a video of the model I have www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIsec-MTGwU |

"You draw that bastard blade and I'll have your bastard head." Nice one. What kind of steel is the blade made out of? High-carbon? Best keep it cleaned and oiled or else it'll rust, if so, although I'm sure you know that. Does it flex if you apply force to the flat side, or is it stiff? |

Now I *must* have one. |
It's 1055 high carbon....good flexablity |
Sweet....now to see how kind payday is to me. Thanks
|
My pleasure....... |
Meh......... It's merely a flesh wound.

If you lack adequate training, you can REALLY FUCK YOURSELF UP WITH A SWORD!!!!! I'm not saying you lack training or that I have it. There was a story a few years ago where a guy with experience stuck his katana right through his forearm severing the artery. IIRC, he was able to apply a tourniquet and his wife was home I don't recall if they drove to the ER or called for an ambulance; But I seem to recall that after the surgeries he was going to take months to heal up. I'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything just please be careful! ETA I found a link; http://forums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=53083 |
I was only sort of kidding when I mentioned sticking the sword in your leg. There's a reason why they say not to cut alone! |
Oh trust me.....I have all the respect in the world for this weapon. This sword is impressive Cold Steel puts a keen edge on their knife and I fiqured this would be sharp..but still surpised with the edge on this sword which is pretty impressive for a blade 33 inch long. |
OK, I'm gonna be perfectly honest here. At first I'm like hmm, funny looking fat guy cutting rope with a sword . Then he starts picking oranges out of midair with the tip of that thing, and I'm like, holy craps, this dude is more awesome than I will ever be with any sort of edged weapon Looks like you got a nice piece of work there. |
Ok, that fat guy is just plain comical. Nice sword, but be careful with it. Matt |

I am one of the worlds leading practitioners and instructors in RMA which includes the historically-accurate use of the longsword. I recommend Albion swords. I have the Crecy and the Brescia Spadona. Try this website for info on how to use one; ARMA Here's my latest Albion; Link Kick around the Albion site while your there. They have entry level weapons too. |
They had the Bastard in stock.....but I know what mean about waitting periods. Try getting a knife direct from Randall. But that too was worth the wait...

| If you want to know about swords go to Sword Forum.com. This is the AR15.com of the sword world. Most production stuff out there is just a SLO (Sword Like Object). Fine for hanging on the wall but NOT for real use. People HAVE been killed accidently with shitty wall hangers. If you really want to get into swords check them out. You can get real swords at various price points, and Sword Forum has the info reviews etc. Sorry if this is a dupe didn't read the whole thread |
Thanks for the heads up...I check that site out. |
Those are some pretty swords...price isn't real bad either. If I can manage to keep all my body parts with this one..... |
I don't know. I'm a Swordsman but my knowledge of metallurgy on a technical level is lacking. |

I am extremely partial to the Japanese school of sword design and construction. Considering that it is a design that was developed and continuously refined over a thousand years of almost constant warfare, I'd have to say that the Japanese pattern is by far the most highly developed and efficient form of sword for combat with the cutting edge, rather than stabbing. Opinions may differ...but name one other sword type that has a thousand years of development behind its particular design. CJ |
cmjohnson: Another way of saying what you just said is that they went for a thousand years without making any advances ![]() Katanas are effective at what they were designed for, but their intended role was somewhat limited. I won't derail the thread further into a katana-versus-whatever argument though. |
I have that exact sword. I love it. Very nice zombie slayer. ![]() ![]()
|
Me either.....just wondering |
Watch them toes buddy......the sword will get em |
Well I don't think Squatdog can deliver much of a powershot...without arms. |

. Then he starts picking oranges out of midair with the tip of that thing, and I'm like, holy craps, this dude is more awesome than I will ever be with any sort of edged weapon
