So far, the majority say scripted - You actually think these swampies can take direction? I think they just follow these people around and that's the story in itself - Swamp survival. I don't see too much drama other than the ever threatening alligator bite or shooting another hole in the boat. |

Unfortunately, I live here.
You have noticed that they have the same clothing on show after show, right? It's so they can just shoot film on every outing and edit it together to make what they want. Stay tuned to A&E. They've signed on for a season with my department to film essentially a "swamp cops". Unfortunately, I can't make the vomit smilie on mobile. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I don't think any of the reality shows are scripted in the sense of dialogue, but the producers definitely have an idea of what they want, and create or ask for situations to be created.
Heck, the guy who started Survivor said in an interview that "reality tv" was a horrible name for what he produces. He preferred the term "unscripted drama." |
| JR and willie are actually my first cousins... its semi scripted. they make them do a lot of crap for show. That being said my dad is going to be on there next session. and he and I may both be on it the following one. He went down and filmed with them. Lots of fun was had. I've got a pic of all of us out front on their porch with black rifle somewhere. |

I was griping at my wife the other day about some show she ilkes, and she said, "well, you like to watch a show where swamp people catch alligators over and over again." I told her, "I like those two guys with the beards better than the rest. They are my favorite. I'd like to hang out with them." She was like

Swamp Logger filmed in Duplin, Co. N.C. They film for a week to get footage for 1 episode. during editing later they call back and get audio to link the edited footage together. The participants also get paid for each episode. Still better tv than other channels are offering. Dumbing down is for public educated to follow. God help the USA.

OF course the show is staged and choreographed to some degree, likely to a large degree.
Although there is certainly more than a hint of realism involved as well, probably more so than what you see on Network TV reality shows. Of course what it is, is entertainment, and should be viewed as such. If you want to get an idea on life in that part of the world, there are several excellent documentaries that are truly unscripted, they are also far less entertaining than the TV program. |

I'm assuming it isn't "scripted" but it probably goes down something like this:
Director: Hey Bubba let's take the film crew gator hunting tonight. It would be awesome if you missed the first one and then wrestle the next one without shooting it first. Bubba (pocketing check for episode): Sure thing boss, junior and me gone fire up de boat then and then yall load up dem cameras an a swampin away we go. |

I read that that Injun fella was watching an episode, and while his kid was trying to get an gator a loud voice could be heard the said kill him kill him, the thing is.... that wasn't the injun fella! it was a stranger's voice that was later added by a sound tech during the editing |

I don't believe anything I see on TV. That said, I don't think these two could memorize lines. http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff98/mailbcw/guist.jpg Those two guys give me the Heeby-Jeebys. No way would I venture into the swamp with them. |
| While I wouldn't say it's necessarily scripted I think the "actors" play up certain situations at the direction of the producers to add a little more drama. Just like Ice Road Truckers when they try to make you think someone is going to bite it any minute. I still like the show for what it is and I watch it regularly. It beats the hell out of the "TruTV" offerings. |

got about ten minutes of one the other day.
mr long hair in just his overalls brings a guy on his boat they talk about how easy it is to loose the tags and boom one minute later they cut to tags in the water and sinking fast and new guy has to jump to save them... some of it is bs but I dont think that troy is acting I think they just use creative editing. friend has family from over in that part of the swamp I try like hell to get his 8 year old nephew to run around yelling choot em choot em choot dat sucka half the time im fairly sure he is speaking french |

Quoted: I know some people in the know This is correct. My in-laws hang out at Terrel's camp on the Pearl sometimes, and they said Terrel said that it's heavily produced. Supposedly they're paying him to go catch a crocodile in Africa some time soon. ![]() |
