I spend a lot of time in body shops at work, which are by their nature a noisy place with lots of banging on sheetmetal, air chisels and air compressors kicking off and on.

Has anyone here used the SureFire ear pro and either liked or disliked them?  I wish there was a way for me to try them first to see how comfortable they are, but I like that it looks like they are easily retained in the ear, which is important for long term wear since the foam roll-a-booger earplugs seem like they always work their way out, or you insert them too far.  I also like the idea of having a reusable set of ear-pro that doesn't cost the $100+ of a set of custom poured plugs.

Depends. Outdoors with non NFA weapons and pistol yes. NFA stuff.. I don't know. Indoors I'd double it up with muffs.

When I wear plugs, I use the SF brand exclusively.

They work great.

Ive used em for shooting. Either they work okay, or Im deaf-ish from shots w/o earpro. Comfortable for about an hour, then my ears get irritated from the slight pressure pushing into my canals. You can carry on a conversation with them. I prefer electronic any day though.

Use mine for shooting all the time... They take just enough of the edge off, yet you can still have normal conversation with out having to take them out.

they are good enough for outdoor shooting ............................................... until that one guy, who brought his 300WSM with brake to the class, starts shooting.

that was with EP-4.

EP-4 has the additional flange (3 instead of 2) and they are a bit larger than the EP-3

I have two pairs of both

both types are comfortable for me for all day usage

(ended up going with my Flents foam plugs for the rest of the class)

I used another brand that looked exactly like the sure fires, comfortable and seemed to work as advertised at first but by the end of the day my ears were ringing and if felt like i hadnt been wearing earpro at all

I use them all the time for shooting.  Works fine for 9mm Glocks, 16" ARs, 10.5" ARs; suppressed and non suppressed.

I really like them.

I wear my EP-3's 8+ hours a day in a print shop.  I love them.
Another good thing about them is I can use a phone while wearing them.
When I used the foam plugs I'd have to pull one out to take a call.

I have EP4's.  I wear them at the range (indoor and out) with a Peltor 7S.  I have sensitive hearing and don't like to shoot much with just the plugs in, but they're nice backup in case I forget to put my muffs back on.  For that application, I leave the center plugs open.

How did you all size them?

It seems like it will be difficult to use a 20' tape measure in a mirror to measure my ear helix down to 1/8".

I just ordered a pair. Surefire website says most people are medium, so thats what I got, if they don't fit I'll return em for the bigger size.
