I tend to agree, those little horizontally opposed 4 cylinders are a breeze to work on compared to the sideways V6 in my pontiac.
Theres been a few little things that I've noticed while working on one and thought "why the hell did they do that?" but for the most part, very easy to work on design. |

Subarus will not let you down, they can take a beating and keep running like a champ This. I watched a junk Subaru 4wd wagon that sat for years, start up and drive up onto a flatbed tow truck. It had rusted off exhaust, 4 flat tires and the respect of everyone nearby lol.. |

When I was a kid the family car was an 84 Subaru wagon. Learned how to change oil on that car, it was a breeze. It ran to 350k miles when my mom demanded it be sold and I saw it a few years later with over 500k on it and it was still running smooth. With the 4 wheel drive it was like a mountain goat. Damn that car was ugly.
With that barb wire pin stripe you need to add a tribal tramp stamp. |

The OCI for that vehicle is NOT 3k... ETA: I've put a lot of time in the driver's seat of a Forester, and the car really impressed me. Also, LOL@ barbed wire pinstripes on a Subaru. Its 7.5 k, but I'm old school and new cars get a fresh belly full of juice at 3k |

A junker my brother picked up, we rolled it over and proceded to jump it about 15 feet There HAS to be some Dept of Motor Vehicles office somewhere, where some skeevy russian dude in tracksuit is trying to register that car |

Jeremy Clarkson just threw up Some limey git that loves to talk shit about `murrican cars cuz his GT40 was a turd. Who cars what Clarkson thinks. He hangs out with two poofters that would drive subarus if they could get away with it. I guess you prefer Tanner |

Just finished the 3k oil change on the Forester. First time I have gotten into the mechanics of it. Solid, well thought out, well protected, simple, user friendly, service friendly. Gotta post that i am thoroughly impressed with the design and construction of this vehicle. Put me down as an epic Subaru fanboy

OP: I couldn't be happier with mine. Subarus are absolute billy goats. Though it is a shame the current Foresters no longer feature the hidden rifle compartment.

I'm considering a Subaru for my next daily driver, but I'm not sure about that newfangled AWD. I've never owned a vehicle that wasn't RWD. Subaru is the gold standard of AWD They have been doing it for a LONG time Just don't get an unrepairable flat. 2 or 4 new tires is the fix. Found out the hard way at 15k miles in my wife's 2012 Outback.

Our Honda has never said it needed changing in less than 7K and several times closer to 8K. It is even more important not to change the first one early. BigDozer66 |

If my 85 year old mother can sport one, why not the OP ? http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l519/Dagger41/Picture277.jpg I have the same size BFL in the same exact spot on the same body style Forester. |

Neighbor kid was changing oil on his butch aunt's Forester. He removed to filter and drained the oil, Then couldn't figure out why it was over full with 4 quarts of oil.
He was a bit bummed when I pointed out that he'd drained the transmission. Oil drain and filter were hidden under a little cover. Smallest transmission filter I ever saw - Looked like a direct match for the tiny oil filter. |
