My computer's primary HD is dying. The OS is currently on the dying drive. I have a secondary HD with two partitions. P1 is 6Gb, and I have cleaned all the visible files off it. P2 is 54Gb, and contains a LOT of data that I need, and which I don't have time to back up onto CDs. Can I install Win98SE onto the cleaned partition without destroying the data on the second partition?

Yep, Just don't format P2 before you install 98. Remove (or disable in BIOS) the old drive, set P1 as the "active" partition and install 98 on P1. Edited because I read your post wrong. -
