Oh, great.
Another kidney stone for me. Bout started at 2 AM last night.
A bad one, too.
My urinary volume dropped. My attempts to keep drinking water didn't help.
I went to the emergency room.
Service was fast and included a CAT scan.
Oh, great. Now I have a specialist of my own. A urologist.
The CAT scan says I have about 20 stones in there.
Lithotripsy sometime soon, I presume.
And analysis of the stones and dietary changes, I guess.
They have some good drugs in the ER.
The pain wasn' t pleasant, but otherwise, my experience in the ER was interesting, and not
unpleasant. I definititely wasn't afraid of doctors or needles.
I got my first I.V. ever. Even when the nurse stuck me five times looking for a vein, I gave
her no trouble. I can handle the stick of a needle, and my veins aren't readily accessible.
I was even encouraging of her. "Try again. Don't worry about me. That didn't hurt."
You aren't a kid anymore when you have not just a family practicioner, but a specialist.
So how was YOUR day?
