Watching The Golden Hawk right now, and the man he has presence.  Even with fag hair.

I remember seeing him weirding out on the Carson show one night, and Carson was very obviously nervous and ready to run for his life.

At least he didn't go to the Douglas Fairbanks School Of Laughing And Jumping Off Of Things.

Here he is just being himself, not acting at all.

I think what is cool and intriguing about people like this is the fact that they aren't "normal".  "Normal" people get boring.

I had a friend years ago that was in film school, and he actually met Hayden and got to speak with him a bit.

Said he gave off a very "weird" vide. Boring he was not.

He detested acting, which he was great at, and spent most of his life wishing he was a writer, which he sucked at.

The Criterion Collection DVD for The Killing had a long interview from the,70s with him.

He was an eccentric dude to say the least.  Almost lived like a bum.

Had trouble getting work towards the end.  He was so bad at remembering his lines in Dr Strangelove that most of his performance was edited line by line.

I remember the Carson show with Hayden; he had a walking stick that had Carson's full attention...

He was a fucking badass in WWII, but turned a bit socialist after that.

I liked him as the police captain whom Michael Corleone killed in The Godfather.

Wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't more than a little PTSD'd out.

He did repudiate his support for the CPUSA.

He delivered a very wooden performance in Suddenly, the Frank Sinatra assassination flick, which I always find odd given his other roles. But then, he was an eccentric.

I would have thought I was the only person on Earth that remembered that.
