That can't work.  There's always exceptions to the rule.

For example, "Mormons are good people."

You are mostly right.  They are.  But they aren't ALL good people, so is saying "Mormons are good people" a stereotype?

Please note:  I was just using Mormons as an example.  I'm thinking of a whole different group of people in the OP.
