I remember that episode, but it was years ago. I just started season 4 and I noticed that Bashir is acting a little strange. I'm wondering if that is supposed to indicate that he's already been replaced.

I'll tell you what's boring - expecting every alien culture after getting a Federation replicator and being forced to accept government supplied food, housing, and the abolition of money to just join hands and sing "kumbaya" in a big drum circle to welcome in this new Intergalactic Communism.  Then Roddenberry died, along with his misguided "we're here to help everybody" Wagon Train to the Stars spreading peace and love across the galaxy.

Then DS9 was born. With Space Nazis (Cardassians), opportunistic merchants (Ferengi), oppressed masses (Bajoran), and evil, ruthless dictators bent on absolute rule (Founders).  And warships!!  Actual ships meant to wage war!!  Not a family cruise ship with a few weapons, but "let's not use them unless we absolutely have to."  Real spaceships kicking ass on real bad guys.  Way more interesting then all that stupid-touchy-feely-why-can't-we-all-just-get-along hippie shit!!

Sorry, Gene, your shit may have seemed fresh in the 1960s, but by the 80s it was just stale left-wing claptrap.  Good riddance.

Star Trek. How exactly does a space station satisfy the trek part of it? Should have been Star Trek: USS Defiant kicks ass. Would have been more interesting.

The Next Generation was the best. Best cast, best premise (same as the first) and decent effects for the time.

Yeah, wesley was a little bitch. But the rest of the cast was top notch. Picard was the most interesting captain and easily the best actor.

Yep.  They found out she wasn't willing to do what most leg humpers around here want to do to and/or with her.  If she had only found her kink side and made a few more sammiches things may be totally different.  Plus, she agreed to the divorce records but not the custody records (as did her ex) because they felt the records could be harmful to their son.  Just saying, if she had worked things out and hadn't gotten divorced or listed alternative sex as a reason for divorce (which her ex denied), Jack wouldn't have withdrawn from the campaign and Obama may not have won.

On a side note, she is supposed to be in the next Mortal Kombat movie in 2013 as Sonya Blade.

Anyway DS9 is the best of all Star Trek series. It has a coherent plot and storyline, and real characters.

Who would have ever thought you would empathize with a Ferengi?

It started off slow, but once the Dominion War starts in Season 3, that's when it hits its stride.

Another thing that I've noticed in it, is that the best decisions they make, are often those outside of "good Federation policy."

Did Picard ever destroy a planet to catch one man?

At first DS9 was about a small Federation force helping the Bajorans getting back on their feet after the Cardies withdrew and to explore of the Gamma Quadrant. It was also meant to show that not everything is perfect in the future.

Then came along a series called Babylon 5. In order for DS9 to compete for ratings they had to change the pace of the show.

Some might say B5 is the reason for the entire Dominion War and the creation of the Defiant class "heavy escort".

Nope, nor did he or Kirk ever sell out their principles for the greater good like Sisko did in "In the pale moonlight"

I think that's pretty fair. DS9 premiered in '93, but the Dominion War didn't come along til '95, one year after B5 started.

B5 is still my favorite series, next to Farscape and Firefly.

He didn't really destroy it, he just made it uninhabitable to humans. A bunch of Cardassians moved in a few days later (to replace their ruined colonies) and the humans took over the ruined Cardassian colonies. It all came out in the wash.

It's kind of ironic that Obama was running against her ex-husband for the state senate. O's cronies were the ones that got their divorce records made public. Allegations against him in the records caused Ryan to drop out of the race.

Memory Alpha is your friend...

http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Julian_Bashir_%28Changeling%29

Based on the fact that the real Bashir was not wearing the newer uniforms introduced in "Rapture",
we can deduce that he had been replaced by a Changeling since at least
that episode. This means the Changeling performed surgery on Sisko in "Rapture" and tried to help save the Changeling
infant in "The Begotten". On the other hand, it is
also possible that it was acceptable to wear either uniform style during
that transitional period, as was seen in the transitional period Star Trek Generations, indicating that he
may have been captured after the aforementioned events. In
response to the often proposed question, Ronald D. Moore commented "It would've been before
"Rapture.
" (AOL chat,
1997)

Deep Space Nine was lot darker and larger in scope than the other series or movies. The character of Kirk would never have been put into anything where he would face no win situations.
