I can't speak to the ARFCOM group, but it's a fun game and worth the ~$40 entry fee. Seems like there's something for everyone. You just have to be patient sometimes with bugs and such. I got burned out a few events ago and haven't played in a while, but I do still love the game. Apparently the economy is wrecked right now if that matters to you. Hyperinflation and whatnot. There is a wide variety of players here with a lot of different ships in different roles, and I'm sure most wouldn't mind linking up in game to let you drive some of them, me included. For Youtube people, Evenlease does good stuff showcasing ships. Subliminal used to, maybe he still does. Citizen Kate does good stuff showing group and Org level play. Ollie43 is decent and shows a lot of single player stuff. He can be a bit over the top sometimes though. Voidy Vids did a lot of group piracy stuff, but he's been quiet almost a year. Some other popular ones are Morphologis, Salt E Mike, Space Tomato, Ray's guide, Avenger One, Buzzcut Psycho. Just be aware that older videos talking about flight mechanics, armor, components, and weapons may be outdated. That stuff seems to be changing every patch. Anyways, if you're not sure, wait until the next free fly to give it a shot, although that's not the best time performace-wise. |

If you decide to jump in, send me a DM. I’ll be glad to hop on and lend you some ships. My fleet is modest, but I think it’s pretty cool. |

Wikelo is a bugged time sync, and not worth the effort for a single player or a small group, especially with a borked economy. I have a shit ton of patch-duped merc script you can have if it will help your friend though. I don’t really know what’s going on with Wikelo at the moment, but I never bothered with him much because the resources he needs are outrageous for a single player. I grinded enough to get a few favors, then realized I could have more fun elsewhere. Anyways, I saw box missions are coming back, which is amazing for new players. Box missions and bunker running are how I made my bones to try new ships when I first started a few years ago. Might have to grab an Avenger Titan and relive old times. Long live the space penguin. |

Even something as simple as drawing your multitool has a delay built in as it recognizes whichever attachment you're using. For some reason, CIG heard we want immersion and think that it's the same word as time sink. |

I'm thinking mining or salvaging is a solid way to start off in the game, does that track? also, anyone have a referral code for the 50k UEC they want to share so I can hook an ARFCOM member up vs a random youtuber? |

I've salvaged a few times with a Vulture and it's pretty chill. I only mine when I go to prison. I don't think I've ever mined with a ship The only problem with those loops as a new player is you won't really see all the POIs if you're out in space all the time. You can go explore on your own, but you won't get paid for it. You mine or salvage, and turn it in at a space station somewhere for refining or selling. But mix in some low level delivery missions and I think it would be a great way to learn the game and see the sights, so to speak. I did it with box missions and bunkers. What ships are you looking at? |

I purchased the Duelist 'Lucky' starter pack since it was 25% off, it came with an Avenger Titan with 8 cargo slots. I figure I can do cargo deliveries like suggested. and I hoodwinked my buddy into doing the same damn thing. ![]() alright, I'm Airtrans in game |

Doing our nightly Hyperion a 3 man team was right on our ass, chased us up the elevator to Site B and my friend and I totally murderized them. We both got Level 3 Crime stats despite these guys firing first at us. Anyways we finished Hyperion, hopped servers, travelled to Gim Hex, deposited our loot, then surrendered and logged out in Klescher prison for the night. Crime system is annoying as hell. |

For real though, you’ll enjoy it. It can do small cargo and has some teeth for low level combat missions and self defense. If you’re a bad pilot like me it has the speed to run away Just keep in mind the cargo sizes before you take a cargo mission. 1, 2, and 4 SCU crates are all it can handle. That’s 8 x 1SCU, 4 x 2SCU, or 2 x 4SCU. Think of a flat grid of cubes 2 wide by 4 long and extrapolate from there. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it. Even with the negatives mentioned above it’s a great game and you chose a great ship. |

I need to make cheat sheets to remember what does what for flight. ![]() I finished the tutorial last night, I’m going to hop on in a bit and try my first haul but I need a tractor beam tool first. This space station I’m on doesnt sell weapons or tools it seems so I need to go elsewhere. |

entertaining game. bracing for the wipe though, I've been given over 500 million by random players just while discussing being new and enjoying the game. the beggars are nuts for sure, and seem despised by all. LMAO after the wipe my buddies and I will probably work together with cargo missions to be able to repurchase the ships we bought with the in game gifted currency. My biggest hurdle is finding the fucking planetary side space ports once I'm in atmosphere. |

CIG has come out and said that there's no imminent wipe planned ATM, beyond the ever popular, somewhere prior to or at the launch of 1.0. Presumably, when that one dev mentioned in passing (only one time, BTW) that there was an imminent wipe coming, word got out so fast, and player populations crashed so hard CIG went into emergency repair mode and put down any notion of one. |
|
Originally Posted By 2T2_Crash: ah, see the chatter I've seen is expecting a partial, in order to correct the economy issues. either way, I'm good for whatever. The hard fact is, CIG hasn't figured out how to get rid of the exploits yet, and until they do, there's no point in wiping anything. It'll just go back to where it already is in a couple of days and the only people who'd be punished are those who're playing legit and not using those exploits. IF, and I stress IF, they get a handle on the exploits and can reign them in (which isn't the same thing) Expect anything from a partial to a full wipe. Until then, I'd say just keep playing as if it's somewhere in the distant, undetermined, future. Of course, this IS CIG we're talking about, so literally anything is possible, whether it makes sense or not. |

I picked one up. The starter package with the shimmer paint. Paint looks sweet. Didn't think I'd like it, but I do. Only 2 MFDs, but there's buttons or switches for everything. And you can turn the cockpit lights off! Flies pretty nice. There's currently an issue with the coding where the nose seems to have 4 hit points. And you don't wanna run cargo without the module. You're stuck with 2 scu in 1 scu boxes. Seems made for box missions. Too bad I'm not seeing any in my contracts tab. I just wonder how long before the modules show up in the in-game shops. I am NOT paying $10 for a 6scu module, given it's locked to 2 scu and 1 scu boxes. And no space shitter. What were they thinking!?!?! Also, if you've got one of the referral Dragonflies that are just south of useless, the Aurora MKII is a $5 CCU. |

I failed more than one by eating a pair or three of missiles before I could even get my shields up. |

I ran down a bounty with my cutlass and new Panther cannons I put on it... those things fucking suck, dont seem to be putting out the damage I'd expect. also, are missiles supposed to home? mine dont |

Ballistics will penetrate shields and cause damage, but there is a nerf to the damage if passing through a shield. Energy weapons will damage the hull once shields are down, but less than ballistics. The upside is you never run out of ammo. Just have to recharge. If I run mixed weapons, I try to keep them as close in projectile velocity as I can, which helps with the pips. If you stick with energy weapons, go get some Attritions at Hurston. I don't know how much the new armor, penetration, and deflection have affected this stuff though. When I was playing a lot, electromagnetic missiles were the most reliable I think. Infrared and cross section not so much. I don't know if that has changed with the updates to emissions and radars and whatnot. Also set your flares to more than one. That will help you not eat missiles right away. The larger ship and more emissions, the more flares you should use. |

Originally Posted By 2T2_Crash: I ran down a bounty with my cutlass and new Panther cannons I put on it... those things fucking suck, dont seem to be putting out the damage I'd expect. also, are missiles supposed to home? mine dont Mainly because damage threshold isn't based on projectile or weapon size, but on alpha damage for some reason. And while panthers have decently fast projectile speed and great DPM, their alpha damage is low. As I pointed out above, even Cutlasses are immune. Attritions are back on the menu. Cannons are viable now. Ballistic repeaters. Next patch, maybe they'll fix it, maybe they'll make it worse. Who knows? |

That's a glitch that's been happening since something like 4.4. If a bottom bar with the system symbol isn't lit up, that system is disabled. Clicking it (if you have available power pips) will re-power that system. I can't remember if you have to manually reassign power pips to that system after re-powering it. Anyway, spent what little play time I had last night going to Hurston to grab a pair of Razors for myself and a friend to hoon around in: Attached File Attached File (please ignore my metrics, my PC does not enjoy it when I'm in Lorville) |

Drake Defensecon is taking place of Invictus this year, starting 5/14 and running through 5/27 and located in Area 18 at Bevic. I guess I need to decide what ship I'm taking this year. I'm mostly between my Hammerhead and Carrack, but I might dust off my 890J if I can convince a few friends to play. The Hammerhead may not be the best choice if I end up buying a bunch of components though ![]() Edit: corrected dates |

| BF6 Season Three drops tomorrow, so that’s kinda shitty timing. Both are a grind, and I’m losing my “have fun and don’t care money” in SC, so I don’t know. Excited to see the Ironclad though. I’ve got a decent CCU chain to a Galaxy, so maybe some fleet changes coming if it doesn’t suck. |
